D. by the British as a gateway to administrative convenience of the greater Abor Hills and the north area in general. Primarily there were settlements of Pasi and Minyong communities who are still living in the villages in and around Pasighat. However, this place still has the beauty and the culture intact and it hasn’t lost its charm as commercial tourism is yet to reach here.

10 Tirap

Tirap district is located on the south eastern part of Arunachal pradesh and is spread across 2363 square kilometers of area. It shares its boundaries with Nagaland in Assam and Myanmar. 11 Daporijo
Paddy Fields, rainforests with bamboo trees along with beautiful Subansiri River flowing along the town, Daporijo is a small town on the way from Ziro to Along.
Daporijo is a scenic town situated 600 meters above the sea level in the upper Subansiri district of the north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Daporijo is typically a good town to stopover on the route of Along to Ziro for a break, otherwise, the town does not have much to offer to its tourists. The town is known for its varied ethnic cultures succinct at one place. River Subansiri ( a tributary of Brahmaputra ) gives a panoramic view flowing in the immediate vicinity of the town. This is a home of people of different tribes like Tagin, Galo, Hilmiri etc. one of the oldest being Mishmi, which are believed to have existed since the Mahabharata era. Varied tribes at one place enriches the town that also celebrates many local festivals. Bamboo handicrafts or colorful costumes are some special take away things from this place.
12 Changlang
Changlang District shares international boundary with Myanmar (Burma) and is best known for its bio-diversity and scenic beauty and a unique culture that makes it standout from the nearby areas.

13 Khonsa
Khonsa is the headquarters of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh and is located in the Tirap Valley surrounded by Himalayan ranges. Streams, deep gorges, dense forests and snow-clad hills are some of the features which describe the terrain in Khonsa.
At an average elevation of about 1,215 m from sea level, Khonsa is a beautiful little hill-station with natural beauty all around it. Bordering Myanmar in the east and Assam in the south, Khonsa is also an important military area in the North-East. Khonsa’s beauty lies in most of the natural surroundings, however, one could also enjoy a visit to the Khonsa museum to have a glance at the traditional tribal artefacts. Kheti and Lajo Village, located nearby are some of the tribal villages which one should visit to get a glimpse of the lives and cultures of tribal people. One could also visit Namdapha National Park, located in Arunachal Pradesh (around 166 km from Khonsa) for a wildlife tour. 14 Yingkiong
Yinkiong is the headquarter of the Upper Siang district, gets its name from River Siang that flows besides this district. This region is known for its diverse and colourful ethnicity where people live with love and celebrate festivals with zeal.
Ponung, Roja and Broh are some of the famous dance forms of the region which has been inhabited mainly by four tribes, Adi, Khamba, Mishmis and Memba. 16 Yupia
Yupia is the headquarters of Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh and is 20 Km away from the state capital Itanagar. One of the best things about this beautiful town is that its inhabitants have preserved their diverse culture and traditions with the touch of love and togetherness.
There are many tribes in the vicinity, but the majority is of Nishi (Indian – Mangloi) and Mikir (migrants from Assam) tribes. The essence of ardor in the air during their vibrant festivals enlivens the psyche. Longte yalo and Nyokum yalo are the festivals are celebrated with tremendous zeal.
17 Mechuka
Mechuka is a famous destination in Arunachal Pradesh for exotic tribes and the scenic beauty it engulfs. The other name for Mechuka is Menchukha. It is a small town nestled above the sea level in Mechuka valley. It is home to Memba, Ramo, Bokar and Libo tribes. The natives are the followers of Buddhism, Donyi-Poloism and Christianity. With time Mechuka has become a famous tourist destination because of its historic as well as religious significance. The beauty of River Siyom, locally known as Yargyap Chu is yet another reason for its fame.

18 Tezu
As you roam around the woods enriched with lush greenery and birds chirping those soothing melodies with the Shivalinga rocks on the backdrop, you will praise the beauty of nature that has been bestowed upon Tezu.
This beauty is full of bustle during the festival of Makar sankranti in January. There is a grand celebration that is organized during this time by the Mishmi tribe called Tamladu festival. Mishmi tribe is known to be one of the oldest, existing since the era of Mahabharat. People also take a dip in the holy water of Parshuram Kund with the belief that all their sins get washed away in the process and people also indulge in the joyous mela that takes place during this time around the Kund. The story says that when Parshuram was ordered by his father to kill his mother he threw the axe with great fury which lead to the birth of this Kund. And the crack caused eventually became the source of the Lohit river
19 Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary
This royal sanctuary plays home to the royal bengal tiger and many more varieties of flora and fauna. At least 40 mammal species occur in Pakke Tiger Reserve.
Tiger, leopard, clouded Leopard, jungle cat, wild dog Jackal, Himalayan Black Bear, Binturong, Elephant, Gaur, Samber, Hog deer, Barking Deer, Wilboar, Yellow throated martin and so so many more animal species can be found here. Nearly 300 species of birds call this reserve their home too. It is aslso known as the Pakke Tiger Reserve as the sanctuary aims at preserving and protecting the Royal Bengal Tiger.
20 Namdapha National Park
The third largest national park in the country, area-wise, Namdapha National Park is located in Arunachal Pradesh. Namdapha National Park is a gem for any wildlife and nature lover. With its altitude varying between 200 meters to 4500 meters, it is a haven of rare and endangered animal and plant species with one of the most vibrant bio-diversities in the country. It is here that you can spot species such as Snow Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Leopard, and Tiger. Namdapha National Park is located at a mere distance of 160 km from the capital of Assam, i.e. Dibrugarh and is well-connected by a network of roads up till Miao, which is its getaway.
Being in the lower Eastern Himalayan belt, the national park provides a beautiful view of the nearby peaks; it is perfect for some forest trekking and hiking activities and for relaxation. The birdlife at the sanctuary is also great and diverse with many rare species and migratory present in the National Park. It is a great place to start off your journey into Arunachal Pradesh giving you a glimpse of the wonderful things to come ahead. The name of the park itself ‘Namdapha’ is a combination of two Singpho words that mean ‘Forest Keeping’ indicating that conservation of forests is the primary objective of the tribals as well as the locals in the area.
